We have been talking about How to Apply for Jobs but today we will talk about how to prepare for interview when our application is successful.

Preparing for your interview will be the next stage and will help you perform well,  increase your chances of getting the job and make you bold.

Below are the Steps to to take when preparing for a job interview

Research About the Company

Endeavor to learn as much as you can about the company and its operation, ┬áit will be easy to research big companies but may be harder if it’s a small business.

First visit their website, read their annual reports, their mission, vision and read about them in the press if possible.

speak to others who either work there or know the company very well. Ask about:

  • The size of the company
  • Products and/or services it offers
  • Target market
  • Workplace culture

Prepare for the Interview Questions

Know your key strengths and think of examples of how you can demonstrate and relate such skills to successfully do the job.

Note: The interviewer may also ask you about your weaknesses.

Research on ways you can answer these questions in a positive way, answer with a weakness that doesn’t relate to the role you are applying for or mention how you are currently working to improve that weakness.

If an interviewer ever addresses a gap in your skills or knowledge, express your willingness to learn.

How to Dress for an Interview?

The old saying “You are Address the way you Dress” still holds a lot of water when going for an interview.

The way you dress depends entirely on the type of job and company. If you are unsure, it is best to dress coperate and always ensure you are well groomed.

Avoid:

  • Dirty, stained or torn clothing
  • Harsh perfume/Fragrance
  • Noisy jewellery (mostly Ladies)
  • Loud colour of ties or shirt
  • Mini blouses and Skirts
  • Large and bulky or numerous bags (Ladies)
  • Lastly Anything else that’s going to distract you or your interviewers.
